What was happening
CDMX is one of the most polluted cities in the world. Normally people associate it with smog, but they forget an equally serious problem: the accumulation of garbage.
CDMX is the city that accumulates the most garbage in Latam. Each person throws away 1.16 kilos per day.
In a city with 9M inhabitants, that's a lot of garbage.
Mexicans were not sizing up this number.
So we did it for them.
What we did
We show you the size of the garbage accumulation.
We intervened the city with giant plastic bottles to draw people's attention and raise awareness.
But we didn't stop there, we helped people change their habits. We set up spaces where everyone could exchange their plastic bottles for reusable ones. And we also created an online store with more than 5,000 sustainable products, so that everyone can reduce the accumulation of waste.
What we achieved:
More than 25,000 people exchanged their plastic bottles plastic bottles for a reusable reusable one from Mercado Libre.
We had so much positive feedback that we had
to produce more reusable bottles than we had estimated.
The action was seen by 500,000 people and gained the attention of the Mexican media,
that helped us to have more impact.
